Coffee calories!
We all tend to think about the calories we eat at our meals and snack
times. Many clients dont even list their beverages (other than
cocktails) on their foodsheets
.but they should. A little latte
here a cup of chai there and some of your precious weight loss has
been erased. So we know the caramel and mocha drinks are caloric but
that 16-ounce tazo chai contains more than 300 calories and 47 grams
of sugar. Even a skim latte has over 150 calories in the 10oz size.
What to do if you find yourself trapped in Starbucks? Choose a skim
cappuccino- you'll save 50 calories the same size latte would
have. If you dont need a buzz order a skim steamer (steamed
nonfat milk) and add a shot of sugar-free syrup.
Rx for exercise
Most pregnant women know that should they want to, its
all right to exercise during pregnancy, provided their pregnancy isnt
a high risk case. However, recent guidelines from the American College
of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommend 30 minutes of exercise
most days for pregnant women. Thats more than the occasional
bout of cardio or flight of stairs.
Steer clear of scuba diving, kickboxing and horseback riding but otherwise
there are few excuses. Think of it this way if you start now youll
need fewer post-natal foodtraining sessions!
Too much of a good thing
Most athletes involved in sports at a competitive level know their
limits from years of trial and error and know what their bodies can
and cannot handle. However, even the most seasoned athlete can be
vulnerable to increasing their training or racing schedule without
increasing their calories or not allowing themselves adequate recovery
time.
Its important to know the signs of overtraining and nutritional
tactics to avoid it. Click on the link below for a fantastic summary
of these issues.

All it takes is a few 60-degree days to remind
us that spring is almost here (or winter never came). Either way,
before we know it we'll be beach bound and body conscious.
